| EFS - ONLINE HELP |
| ADVANCED Settings |
This section is where you can setup additional functions of EFS. If the following are checked: Check On Startup - Will cause EFS to check as soon as EFS is run . To bypass this option, run EFS with a /nocheck switch. Quit after check/send - (ADVANCED VERSION ONLY) Generally used with Check on Startup, you can enable this option to run a "one time" check then have EFS quit. If you select Include Timeouts then EFS will also quit even if the connection times out. Otherwise, EFS will retry up to 3 times and then exit Marker File check - (ADVANCED
VERSION ONLY) Checks for mail if the file 'marker.efs' exists in the same folder as the EFS executable resides in. This
feature can allow you to establish checking from a batch file. If you echo some text into this file, EFS will remove it
the initiate a Pop3 check. Eg: A batch file such as: Only Check If Online - (ADVANCED VERSION ONLY) EFS will "ask" the operating system if it currently has an online connection and only check if there is. NOTE: After some testing, we've found that the operating system does not always get this right!!! Open Port Checking - (ADVANCED VERSION ONLY) EFS will poll the specified serial port every 5 seconds and check for email if it is open. The process is repeated after the port is closed then re-opened. Port = COM Port you want to poll. Delay = the period of time (in seconds) EFS will wait between the time the COM port is open and the time EFS initiates a check. Useful for dialup connections Write HTML code - (ADVANCED VERSION ONLY) Writes the transaction and statistical logs to HTML code. You can specify a folder where you want these files placed otherwise it defaults to C:\install folder\E.F.S\Web\ You can change the "BACK" hyperlink in the index.html file to point to the originating web page. Show Detail Window - A "debug" type window will show you transaction by transaction of command line detail. This can help if you are having problems with EFS connecting as it shows mail transactions at the lowest level. It is HIGHLY recommended you DO NOT leave this window open when running EFS under normal circumstances or a reduction in performance will occur (due to continuous updating of this window) If you run EFS with a /debug switch, two text files efsin.txt and efsout.txt will be created containing detail of Pop3 and Smtp detail from this window respectively. This setting does not need to be enabled to have this information recorded. Clear Log Before Check - Use this if you wish EFS to clear the main log screen before each Pop3 mail check. This basically makes the log easier to read but you will not be able to see previous log entries (unless the "Save Log" option is enabled on the Log Screen) Fix Duplicate Messages - Use this if multiple copies of the same message are being delivered users mailboxes. This occurs when multiple copies of the same message exist in your Pop3 account due to the sending mail server delivering an individual message separately to each recipient of that message (rather than the same message addressed to all recipients) Enabling this option tells EFS to download only the header portion of each message and compare the message ID of that message to the next. Only a single instance (determined by its message id) of each email is delivered therefore fixing duplicate messages Disable UID Checking - This causes EFS to stop checking for unique message ID's. Each message has a unique identifier which EFS checks for to ensure that the same email is not received twice (eg: due to timeouts etc) Disabling UID checking is usually only required to get unique headers working wih some mail servers. Enabled Logging - EFS will write the log screen entries to a file in the format EFSmmdd.LOG (mm = month, dd=day) in the EFS Logs folder. Log Statistical Info - (ADVANCED VERSION ONLY) Keeps a log of the number of email messages per user and an accumulative total and averages and stores it in the file EFSSTATS.LOG Log Mail History - (ADVANCED PLUS VERSION ONLY) Keeps a log of details of all inbound messages. Information logged includes "Message retrieval date and time, message date and time, From email address, To email address, Subject field and Size of message. These details can be viewed by the free EFS Mail History Viewer that comes with EFS Advanced Plus |
