You can set the SMTP Server setting to either Forward or Do NOT Forward. By selecting Do NOT Forward, any email received will be saved as a message file EFS00000.MSG in the C:\install path\Inbox\ folder. You will usually select this when you are initially setting up EFS and are only wanting to test mail retrieves ok. If you select Forward, any email received will be saved temporarily to the "Inbox" folder then forwarded to the SMTP server and removed from the "Inbox" Server - The name of your local Mail server. Ensure you are running DNS or WINS to resolve the name to an IP address or simply put in the IP address. If the mail server is on the same machine as EFS, type localhost Do NOT put the name of or IP address of your ISP's mail server here. Click the IP button to test name resolution. Port - 25 (default) This is the port number that the Mail server is listening on to accept mail. Generally, you wont need to change this number. Timeout - 30 (default) The time in seconds EFS will wait for the Smtp mail server to respond ESMTP - (ADVANCED VERSION ONLY) Allows you to use the Enhanced SMTP protocol to send mail. This protocol requires a username and password to be entered to gain access to the SMTP server. If you use this, you must ensure your mail server (and all your mail clients) are setup for ESMTP as well. Postmaster - This is your organisations "mail administrator". This is the person you wish to receive malformed or undeliverable messages. Malformed messages occur when the local mail server rejects mail sent by EFS, usually due to invalid characters in the message header. Test - Click this button to have EFS automatically generate and send a test message to the postmaster. Use this to test the connection to your local mail server. Message Limit Per Send - (ADVANCED VERSION ONLY) Allows you to force EFS to start sending retrieved Pop3 mail after XX messages. By default, EFS will wait until all messages have been downloaded from the Pop3 server and the connection disconnected before attempting to send messages to your local Mail server. Dont Send 'Error' Messages to Postmaster - (ADVANCED VERSION ONLY) Stops EFS sending any messages found in error to the postmaster. The messages sit in the C:\Program Files\E.F.S\Errors\ folder in the format EFS0000x.MSG | ![]() |
